New Data Reveals Which Australian State Is Having The Most Sex

New data reveals which Aussie state is having the most sex

So that's what goes on down there

There’s the old adage that everything in the world is about sex (except sex itself). And the folks at Durex know a thing or two about the subject. Call them specialists, if you will. Recently, they’ve gone the extra mile to conduct a study, specifically to see just how Australia is having it – or not.

A study on national sex

Perhaps the most interesting data point is that the average Australian is having sex 1.4 times per week. We’ll give you a second to ponder which side of the average you fall on.

Even more interesting is that Tasmanians have more sex than any other state, with an average of 1.9 times per week. Something’s going down, down there.

On the other end of the spectrum, residents of the Northern Territory are having the least sex of any state or territory at just 0.7 times per week. According to the ABS, the NT is the only state or territory in Australia with more men than women, which could account for the lower numbers.

13 Ways to Make Doggy-Style Sex Feel Even Better

The data also showed that 61 per cent of Australians are satisfied with their sex lives, which is not an overly inspiring figure. That leaves almost one half of every couple unsatisfied.

In happier news, our attitudes to sex are also improving for the better. More than half of us are open to trying new positions and talking about what turns us on. 28 per cent of Aussies are curious about broader sexual experiences like BDSM, kinks and polyamory.

The data did also reveal some worrying figures. Only 13 per cent of Australians believe their sexual education was comprehensive, with a quarter of us saying it was non-existent. Our use of protection also isn’t ideal: 32 per cent of singles haven’t used any form of protection in the last year, while 11 per cent of sexually active Australians rely on the simple ‘pull out’ method.
