Pip Edwards is doing things. Correction, Pip Edwards is *always* doing things.
She’s a mover (and a shaker, couldn’t help it) and sometimes there’s a secret to those people that are constantly on the go. You know those people – and you may well be one of them – they’re perennially active, dreaming, plotting, scheming (not in the bad way). They’ve got many different balls in the air, and seemingly always have one eye looking at that very next shiny ball. They’re restless for more. But what could that secret be? Well, despite that drive, they also know when to stop and recharge, when to go and when to actively take a moment. To fully comprehend and partake in the beauty of balance.
So we decided to sit down with the head of P.E Nation to chat about that equilibrium, and how the queen of athleisure wear manages the quick and slow. In a quickie of an interview, we discussed everything from what an average day looks like, to the joy a decent set of headphones can bring, and a go-to meal.
So stop, read and take a moment with Pip Edwards.
Women’s Health: What does an average day look like for you?
Pip: I never have the same typical day … but it generally goes something like this: wake up, drive to Pilates, get a coffee and head to the office. In the office it can involve anything from design meetings, to marketing meetings, to photoshoots, to board meetings … it can all happen in a day and everything in between!
I like to escape the office before 5pm in order to get to my afternoon walk. I always make sure whatever I’m doing or wherever I’m heading, I’ve got my Sonos Ace headphones with me. I love to listen to my fave tunes and “tune out” as I walk the coastline to horizon gaze at dusk and de-stress from the day, being in nature is super important to me in finding balance from the rush of the day. I then get home to make dinner, my speakers blasting through the house while cooking. I try to squeeze some more work in, and if possible, have a sauna before bed. Ready to do it all again the next day!
What have you learnt about yourself recently?
I never thought this possible but slowing down and taking time to realign, stop, take stock, actually leads to greater productivity and clarity, rather than always being on and racing the hamster wheel. It’s only something I discovered for real in the past few months. Down time is important for progress.
How do you look after your mental health?
Being in nature, and listening to music are the greatest and easiest escapes and resets for my mind. It is actually soul-nourishing. Seeing water, feeling the breeze, and walking the coastline, all the while listening to my favourite tunes – it’s a daily practice for me.
What’s your go-to meal when cooking?
Baked dukka chicken with coconut kumera mash and guac. Yum, one of my all time favourites!
What’s your favourite workout and why?
Pilates all day every day. I get to connect with my body and work on my core strength. Strong body, strong mind, strong life. To move the body in specific ways that supports my health and wellbeing is paramount. Feel good. Look good. Be good. Do good.
