We’re blessed with some pretty fantastic weather (almost) year-round in Australia so it’s only natural that we’re a nation of swim-loving beach goers. But what’s a day in the water without donning a good pair of togs? We look to our favourite swimwear brands—from the high end to the affordable, and both international and Australian brands we’ve got our eye on this summer.
What do Aussies call bathing suits?
Aussies have a knack for slang. You may have heard bathing suits be called cossies, togs, swimmers or bathers. Each term is used in different parts of the country.
What is the most comfortable swimwear?
What you consider most comfortable will differ from person to person and not just physically, but mentally too. Some may find a full coverage one-piece to be the most comfortable, while others may prefer a two-piece set with adjustable sides to be best for them. As a general rule of thumb, look for soft, stretchy fabrics without any unnecessary accessories like beadings or charms if comfort is your main priority.

Rip Curl
For over 50 years and counting, Rip Curl has been synonymous with the best surfing gear on the market. Bikinis, wetsuits, boards, clothing, towels… they have it all. When it comes to their cossies, there are always so many styles to choose from (two pieces, sets, rashies and more), perfect for the beach, pool and everywhere in between.
Cotton On Body
When it comes to affordability, it’s hard to beat Cotton On Body’s prices. There’s also a plethora of super trendy and timeless pieces, while some of their collections include items made from recycled fabrics and organic cotton. Our current favourite is the adorable blue and red Straight Neck Crop Bikini Top.

And of course we had to mention the Amazon Echo. The 2024 Spot is an alarm clock, speaker, smart home and display all in one.
